Obtaining a Criminal Record Check
Students participating in practicum placements in Ontario schools are required to complete a Full Disclosure Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check (CRC) including the Mental Health Act, prior to having direct contact with children. Without this in place you will not be allowed to participate in practicum placements.
It is critical to apply for the CRC in the spring each year so that it will be processed by the beginning of the school year particularly for those who live in Toronto where checks take longer to process. Even "Winterns" should have a check in place by late August since all year 2 students are in classrooms the week after Labour Day.
Specific instructions on how to obtain your Criminal Record Check will be communicated to all students each year in the spring.
